Here's what we do: Every night, immediately after we put the kids to sleep, we each spend 10 minutes chipping away at a household project. Sometimes we work together. Sometimes we work independently. We set a timer and, when that timer sounds, we stop wherever we are - guilt-free.
Boom. Done. Easy breezy.
It's surprising how much we get done in 10 minutes and - added bonus - evening TV time
is always so much sweeter when we know we've been productive that night. It's a brilliant way to give attention to those "I'll get to it someday" projects that aren't right in your face but would make your life a whole lot better to have done. It also works great at the office, so use this secret weapon to tackle your big professional projects, too.
Click here for the step-by-step on how to put this practice to work for you, at home and in the office, including how to use it with deadline-driven projects. (disclaimer of the obvious: projects with close deadlines may take a bit more than 10 minutes per day - this isn't magic, folks - but can no doubt be made much less monsterous with this technique)
Then, make sure to come back and share your thoughts on this! In the comments below, write which monster projects you think this technique could tame in your life.
